Benefits of Hemp, Marijuana and its Cultural Values

Hemp seems to be the new revolution these days especially when people are getting aware of its benefits that have now triggered the medical, environmental and its economic value. Hemp has been known to human civilization earlier than eight thousand years in the ancient civilization of India, Nepal, and China. Back in those eras, it was a good source of fiber that could be turned into clothes, ropes, sacks and not limited to the materialistic use of the hemp that we see today. Besides the proper use of hemp for sustainable living that civilization even included Marijuana as a proper substance to heal spiritually although it was not practiced so openly living with the social norms.

Marijuana that many nations considered a drug and prohibited its plantation or use of any form has its own benefits. In a Hindu tradition, the use of marijuana is taken as a gem especially by two different sects i.e. Ayurveda Science (Herbal Medications) and the Aghoris (Yogis). In Ayurveda Science, the use is to heal people who are suffering from both physical or other psychological issues that have no side effects of its use. Whereas in the case of Aghoris the substance simply helps to calm their mind for meditation and other yogic practice. Marijuana intake not only calms down your mind but it even slows down your breathing and heartbeat that is a core necessity for anyone practicing hard-core meditation. Hence, this is one reason among Hindus Lord Shiva is often associated with marijuana.
Hemp and marijuana are two different things with two different purpose that are equally valuable to us. In this modern society, climate change and environment issues is a big deal that now slowly encouraging everyone to replace the use of plastic and other non-degradable materials with organic substances and hemp seems to be the best choice. With the advancement in technological devices and in the social culture itself, we have also introduced to several new physiological illnesses that this natural plant has a great cure.

However, it is a sad situation to see that the awareness programs are not effective enough to make governments worldwide to change their perspectives on this mystical plant. Over 25,000 products can be made using hemp that can easily replace our habitual use of environment non-friendly materials and still making these items more sustainable and cheap. Similarly, the cultivation of hemp in itself has many benefits like the use of pesticides is almost null that keeps the soil healthy plus the hemp itself is the rotating crop so the soil gets nurtured every time we plant them.

Increasing the use of hemp products can be one wise decision to start the environmental revolution from home. We can find varieties of hemp products to replace the non-degradable products like using hemp bags, hemp clothes, shoes, decorative items and many more. Planting hemp might be illegal in your state but you can always buy hemp made products and use them as per your desire. At least starting the use of these eco-friendly products in every home can deduct the human-made pollution by 25% which can be a great relief to our environment and the upcoming generation.
